J. Cole dropped by the Power 106 Los Angeles station to deliver his first ever L.A. Leakers freestyle.

The appearance, which was 12 years in the making, hears the artist first freestyle over “93 ‘Til Infinity” by Souls of Mischief. The hosts are, evidently, blown away by the bars and give Cole the beat of ”Still Tippin’” by Mike Jones for another round.

Cole’s L.A. Leakers freestyle arrives just before the drop of his highly-anticipated album, The Off-Season. In a recent cover story with SLAM Magazine — which made him the first artist to ever grace its cover — the artist revealed that the release “symbolizes the work that it takes to get to the highest height.” “The Off-Season represents the many hours and months and years it took to get to top form,” he said, continuing, “Just like in basketball, what you see him do in the court, that shit was worked on in the summertime. So for an athlete, if they take their career seriously and if they really got high goals and want to chase them, the offseason is where the magic really happens, where the ugly sh*t really happens, where the pain happens, the pushing yourself to uncomfortable limit.”

In related news, J. Cole admitted that he is “super comfortable” with retiring.
