Come Home the Kids Miss You is the sophomore album from American rapper Jack Harlow, released on May 6, 2022 and coming two years after his successful debut album Thats What They All Say.
After a very quiet 2021, in which he only released the single “SUVs (Black on Black)” (with Pooh Shiesty) and was featured on Lil Nas X’s smash hit, “INDUSTRY BABY,” on February 4, 2022 Harlow announced via an Instagram post that he was working on a new album, with the caption:
Next chapter starts now
Two weeks later, he announced his official return with the lead single from the album, “Nail Tech,” released on February 18. The single was praised by several celebrities, including Kanye West, who called Harlow “one of the top 5 rappers right now” in a now-removed Instagram post.
During an interview with Apple Music on February 18, the same day “Nail Tech” was released, Jack talked about the creative process of CHTKMY:
I think everybody will understand once I give them this new work. I feel like I haven’t had a chance to lay on the world just how passionate and how studious I am, and just how capable I am. […] And I think when I finish this album, it’ll be time for some of that. I think it’ll be refreshing for me to get into some of that. But right now, I’m in total work mode, man.
On March 16, during a Rolling Stone interview, Harlow officially announced the release date and the title of his second album, saying that its production process was heavily inspired by Kanye West.
On March 31, Harlow playing a new song for the album, with the caption:
Locked in the studio finishing up this album for you. How bout this one next ?
The next day, he officially announced the album’s second single, “First Class,” featuring a particular sample of Fergie’s January 2007 hit “Glamorous,” released on April 8 — along with the official album cover, which was announced on social media with the single.
On May 3, 2022, Harlow announced the tracklist on Instagram, with features of Pharrell Williams, Drake, Justin Timberlake and Lil Wayne.
