Long Term Effects of SUFFERING is the upcoming sophomore studio album from New Orleans duo $UICIDEBOY$. The album—which serves as the follow-up to their 2020 release Stop Staring at the Shadows—is expected to feature mixing from Louisiana producer and engineer Sambo Bachrack.

The album’s rollout consisted of the two singles “NEW PROFILE PIC” and “Avalon,” respectively released in April and May of 2021. The album cover, tracklist, and release date were revealed in late June via the duo’s social media accounts. Due to misinformation spread online by music leaking groups, the record was originally thought to be named The New Normal—this was, however, debunked with the official announcement.

Hailing from New Orleans, $UICIDEBOY$ are a rap duo of two cousins: Scott Arceneaux Jr. and Aristos Petrou.

However, many different names and personas are used in place of their real names—for example, “Ruby Da Cherry,” “$uicide Christ,” and many more—each having individual meanings.

The full list and breakdown of these aliases can be found here. $B are currently signed underground rap-based record label, G*59 Records, who have also signed Ramirez and Germ.

The boys’ discography ranges from horrorcore glitch-trap–working with heavy bass, to gloomy atmospherics and drugged-out rhymes.

They began in 2014 by releasing the soon-to-be-infamous series, “Kill Yourself.” The cousins layered their twisted raps over short but snappy tracks, releasing albums and EP’s along the way; such as Black $uicide, Grey/Gray and YUNGDEATHLILLIFE in 2015.

Ruby has not always been a rapper. Before the era of $B—Ruby was a drummer in a punk-rock band who went by the name of Vapo-Rats. During an interview with No Jumper a few years after leaving the band Ruby explained his reasoning for his choice to depart from the group. During the interview, $crim said,

He was going hard with it, he was running everything.

Ruby followed with:

I had to drag, like, three other people with me. They wanted to get fucked up. People aren’t hungry anymore.
